This is a post I’ve been looking forward to writing for some time. Since the opening of Dee for Dentist, one of the many things we constantly get complimented on is the artwork we have displayed around the office. Well, it gives me great pleasure to say that these beautiful pieces were custom made for us by my very talented sister-in-law, Jeanette Montero.
Jeanette is a graduate of the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago. For those of you old enough to remember, that is the museum that Ferris Bueller visits in the movie. Most recently, in 2014, the Art Institute of Chicago was named the “#1 Museum in the World” by Trip Advisor placing it above museums such as the Louvre in France and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Although she pursued art more as a hobby than a career, her work has been on display in places like the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Art Library, and many corporate offices around the country. Jeanette’s contribution to the Sketchboook Project, which is currently on display at the Brooklyn Art Library, was featured in the Sept/Oct 2013 issue of Cloth Paper Scissors. She has also contributed to art books such as the Freestyle Zendoodle and the Art Journal Kickstarter 2014.
With her last child off to college later this year, Jeanette plans to finally finish her website and devote more time to her art by teaching.
