Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fun-filled Thanksgiving holiday. The time has come to announce the winner of the very first winner of our Fills Good Program. For those of you who don’t know what the Fills Good Program is, here’s a little back story:
From day one, giving back to the community has always been a priority to Mike & I. This year we decided to make a commitment to donate money to a local non-profit every quarter, but deciding what organization to donate to was tough and we figured that by just picking them ourselves we’d only get to help 4 organizations a year. There are so many small organizations that do such great work around the city that sometimes money isn’t the only thing they need. Sometimes what they need more is exposure and word of mouth and so the Fills Good Program was born. By having the organizations talk about themselves on our Facebook page they are given another avenue to spread the word about what they do while at the same time they can try and win the money that we have raised through filling procedures at Dee for Dentist.
Before I announce the winner, let me tell you a little about these great organizations:
The Kids’ Cooperative is a joint effort of parents who govern the school, and the director and teachers, who oversee the educational programs. Parental education and involvement are central to the school’s philosophy. Parents at Kids’ Cooperative learn to efficiently nurture social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development of their children. The cooperative experience also serves as a model for parental involvement throughout a child’s educational career.
Jalen’s Gift Foundation is dedicated to assisting parents grieving from the devastating effects of infant mortality. JGF wants to ease the process of loss by providing financial assistance for memorial services, emotional grief support, informational resources on pregnancy and infant loss, and provide a memorial keepsake to the suffering families and to the hospitals.
Future Smiles provides vital oral health care, to vulnerable children, decreasing the incidence of oral disease. Our goal is to instill positive oral health behavior for a lifetime. We are deeply committed to the health of the children and families that we serve and are proud to provide oral health care to more than 200 children a month in Southern Nevada.
With a whopping 46 votes, the winner of the first ever Fills Good prize is Jalen’s Gift! Although only one organization won the money, please take a moment of time and click on the links above to learn a little bit more about what these groups are doing to make Southern Nevada a better place to live.
