This past Friday, Mike, Ellie & I had the privilege of a private plant tour of the Unilver ice cream production facility near Lake Las Vegas. For those who didn’t know, Unilever is one of the world’s largest ice cream makers. They manufacture brands like Popsicle, Breyers, Starbucks, Klondike, Ben & Jerry’s and many more. One of our friends, who also happens to be a patient, has been a line operator at the plant for the last few years and offered to take us on a tour. Apparently they’ve never had a guest as young as Ellie so they had to come up with a quick outfit for her to wear because the coats wouldn’t fit.
Unfortunately, we were unable to take pictures inside the plant for confidentiality purposes but I can tell you first hand it was amazing. The workers were all so welcoming, especially to Ellie. We got to see Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough get made from start to finish and even got to grab an Oreo Klondike right off the production line to eat. Mike & Ellie were in heaven! After the tour we went to the employee break room and got to try even more ice cream. What an experience. Many thanks to our friend Larry for making this happen and to all the wonderful people we met at Unilever.
