I’m not as big a WWE fan as Mike, but when he showed me this video recently, I have to say I have a newfound respect for the company and their people. To summarize, the WWE has been trying to expand their market aggressively into China. This week the company sent John Cena to announce a new partnership between the WWE and PPTV, a Chinese streaming company. While the news itself isn’t all that impressive, what is impressive is that John Cena delivered the announcement in fluent Mandarin – one of the hardest languages to master.

John Cena has been the face of the WWE for quite some time now. He’s their main guy and with his clout he could just sit back, relax, and enjoy the fruits of his status, but instead he continues to improve himself personally and to better represent the company. FYI, Mandarin is the second language  he has mastered after learning French. Apparently, the WWE offers free language classes to all of their wrestlers to help build relationships and grow their market reach.

So, what does any of this have to do with Dee for Dentist. Basically, it made me reflect on what we do here. When Mike & I started Dee for Dentist, we felt it was one of our main responsibilities to build a culture of empowerment for our team members. As such, we encourage our team to actively participate in continuing education – at no cost to them, not only to expand their knowledge and skill set, but to provide an opportunity for them to grow in their field. A perfect example of this is Jo, our lead assistant. Tonight, Jo will be teaching her first class on Digital Implant Restorations, to an audience of her peers as well as other doctors. How cool is that??? And this isn’t even the first class she’s taught. Jo has already lectured on Digital Dentistry to the next graduating class of dental students at UNLV.

Our team, myself included, travel around the country to attend classes and training with the goal of being the best at what we do – not limited to what we do on a daily basis here at Dee for Dentist. Personally, I am a CEREC trainer for Patterson/Sirona which means I go out and train other dentists that invest in digital dental technology; Mike is one of the more active dental office managers in the country as a contributing writer to numerous trade publications as well as the President of the local AADOM chapter of dental office managers; and Suzanne is currently developing a pilot program to teach medical billing for dental practices.

So if you’re a new patient wondering if we have the skills, not only do we have the skills, we’re the teachers! And by the way, if you’re impressed by languages, you might find it interesting that Dee for Dentist is fluent in 5 languages: English, Thai, Tagalog, Chinese, and Spanish! Take that John Cena!!!
