This weekend Mike and I attended the long awaited opening of Purple Potato in Henderson. We have been superfans of Chef Ramir DeCastro since he opened Yonaka a few years ago. If you haven’t been to Yonaka, you’re missing one of the best restaurants in Las Vegas.

Anyways, living in Henderson, Yonaka was always a little bit out of the way for us so we were excited to see the Coming Soon sign for Purple Potato. Purple Potato is Yonaka’s fast casual concept. Started as a pop-up restaurant out of the main Yonaka location on Decatur and Flamingo, it was only a matter of time before it found a permanent home. Lucky for us, that home is in Henderson, at the Eastern Marketplace on St. Rose Parkway and Eastern.

From the moment you walk in, you know this isn’t your standard “make your own bowl” restaurant. The decor is modern, the ingredients are high end, and the service is fantastic. If anything, the ordering process can be overwhelming because you want to try everything. Fortunately, if you find it hard to make a decision, the Chef Suggestions won’t steer you wrong.

One of our favorite things about Yonaka is the chef’s use of sauces and that has carried over into Purple Potato. The Spicy Apple sauce over the salmon/hamachi bowl was amazing as was the Sesame Orange Miso and the Yuzu Caesar.

Just writing this review is making me hungry so I’m signing off to grab some lunch. So if you get a chance stop by and try Purple Potato by Yonaka, you won’t regret it!
