Laser Snoring Treatment in Silverado Ranch

The good news is that effective, comfortable treatment options exist, and you don’t need surgery or a machine strapped to your face to get results.

At our Silverado Ranch dental office, we offer several approaches to snoring treatment — and for most patients, the Solea Sleep laser is where the conversation starts. Dr. Milan Montero holds a double certification in laser proficiency and is one of the first and most experienced dentists in Nevada to use laser technology for soft tissue procedures, including snoring treatment. That level of training is rare, and it makes a meaningful difference in outcomes. Our options also include custom oral appliances and, when appropriate, CPAP coordination — so regardless of your situation, we can find an approach that fits.

Why People Snore (and Why It Matters)

Snoring happens when the tissues in the back of your throat — particularly the soft palate — relax during sleep and partially obstruct airflow. As air passes through the narrowed space, those tissues vibrate, producing the sound your partner has been tolerating far too patiently. The obstruction can be mild, moderate, or significant depending on your anatomy, sleep position, and lifestyle factors.

Common contributing factors include:

• Soft palate laxity: Tissue that’s lost tone or become excess tends to collapse inward during sleep
• Sleeping position: Back sleeping allows gravity to pull soft tissue toward the airway
• Alcohol and sedatives: These relax throat muscles further than normal, worsening obstruction
• Nasal congestion or structural issues: Forcing air through a restricted passage increases turbulence and vibration
• Jaw position: A receded lower jaw can allow the tongue to fall back and crowd the airway

Chronic, loud snoring — especially when accompanied by gasping, choking, or waking unrefreshed — can also be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea, a condition we screen for and treat separately. If you’re unsure whether snoring is your only issue, we can help you sort that out at your consultation.

Solea Sleep Laser Treatment

The Solea Sleep laser is our primary tool for snoring treatment, and it works by addressing the root cause directly: soft palate tissue that vibrates because it’s lost tone. The laser delivers precise, controlled energy to the soft palate, stimulating collagen contraction and tightening the tissue. As the palate firms up, there’s less available tissue to vibrate and less obstruction for airflow to work around.

The procedure takes about 15 to 20 minutes in the chair, requires no anesthesia, and patients typically return to normal activity immediately. Most people notice improvement within a few days of their first session. For optimal results, we typically recommend a short series of sessions depending on the degree of tissue laxity — your consultation will give us a clear picture of what your airway needs.

What sets our practice apart on this treatment isn’t just the technology. Dr. Montero’s double certification in laser proficiency means she’s not just trained to use the device — she’s trained to calibrate it precisely for soft tissue work and to recognize the anatomical factors that affect outcomes. That matters when you’re talking about a procedure involving the airway.

Custom Oral Appliances

For patients who aren’t laser candidates or who prefer an appliance-based approach, we offer custom-fitted oral appliances that reposition the lower jaw during sleep. By bringing the jaw slightly forward, the appliance keeps the airway more open and prevents the tongue and soft tissues from collapsing backward.

Unlike over-the-counter options, our appliances are fabricated to your exact bite and adjusted for both comfort and effectiveness. They’re compact, quiet, travel-friendly, and for many patients, a highly effective alternative to CPAP. If you’ve been diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea in addition to snoring, an oral appliance may also address both simultaneously — a conversation worth having at your first visit.

CPAP Support

For patients with more significant obstructive sleep apnea alongside snoring, CPAP remains the gold standard for airway management. We work alongside sleep physicians and can coordinate care when CPAP is the right path. If you’re already using CPAP but struggling with compliance or comfort, there may also be options worth discussing — including whether a combination approach makes sense for your situation.

What the Health Risks of Untreated Snoring Actually Look Like

Snoring is easy to dismiss as a quality-of-life annoyance rather than a health issue. But chronic airway obstruction, even when it doesn’t meet the threshold for a sleep apnea diagnosis, creates a pattern of fragmented, low-quality sleep that adds up. The downstream effects include elevated blood pressure, increased cardiovascular strain, daytime cognitive impairment, mood disruption, and — if your partner is being kept awake — relationship stress that compounds over time.

We’re not trying to alarm anyone, but we do want to be honest: snoring that’s nightly, loud, or accompanied by any gasping or morning fatigue deserves a professional evaluation. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research consistently emphasizes the oral-systemic connection — what happens in your airway during sleep affects far more than your energy levels the next day.

What to Expect at Your Consultation

We start with a conversation — about your snoring patterns, sleep quality, any symptoms your partner has noticed, and your health history. From there, we’ll evaluate your airway anatomy, discuss which treatment approach is the best fit, and give you a clear picture of what the process looks like before anything is scheduled.

Our multilingual team speaks Thai, Tagalog, Spanish, and Chinese, so every part of that conversation happens in the language you’re most comfortable in. We also offer financing through CareCredit®, Lending Club, LendingPoint®, GreenSky®, and Sunbit if cost is a consideration. Our laser dentistry services extend well beyond snoring treatment — if you’re new to the practice, your consultation is a good opportunity to see what else we offer.

Frequently Asked Questions About Snoring Treatment in Silverado Ranch

How do I know if my snoring needs professional treatment?

If your snoring is loud enough to disturb others most nights, or if you wake up feeling unrested, experience morning headaches, or your partner reports gasping or pauses in your breathing, it’s worth a professional evaluation. These signs suggest your airway is working harder than it should during sleep.

How does the Solea Sleep laser treatment work?

The laser delivers controlled energy to the soft palate, which stimulates collagen tightening in the tissue. As the palate firms up, it vibrates less and obstructs airflow less — reducing snoring at the source. The procedure takes about 15 to 20 minutes with no anesthesia and no downtime.

How many sessions does laser snoring treatment require?

Most patients benefit from a short series of sessions, the exact number depending on the degree of soft palate laxity. We’ll map that out at your consultation so you have a clear picture of the full treatment plan before you commit to anything.

How long do results last?

Results vary by patient, but most people experience meaningful improvement for a year or more. Maintenance sessions are available if symptoms return over time.

Is snoring treatment covered by insurance?

Coverage varies by plan and depends on whether a sleep apnea diagnosis is involved. Our team will help you understand your benefits before treatment starts. Flexible financing options are also available for any out-of-pocket portion.

What’s the difference between snoring treatment and sleep apnea treatment?

Snoring is a symptom; sleep apnea is a condition involving repeated, complete or near-complete airway closures during sleep. Some patients snore without having sleep apnea. Others have both. Treatment options overlap significantly — oral appliances and laser therapy can address snoring whether or not apnea is present — but a sleep apnea diagnosis changes the clinical stakes and may involve coordination with a sleep physician.
